Environment Education
Taking cognizance from St Francis of Assisi, Father and Protector of the Canossian Schools and who is also patron saint for Ecology, he is known for his love for all of God’s creation and his love for Mother Earth. Hence, the Canossian Environment Education Programme aims to:
- Raise awareness about the importance of conserving Earth’s natural resources
- Educate Canossians to be Leaders of Hope in the area of environment
- Empower Canossians to be advocates and play an active role in saving the earth
The programme permeates at both staff and students level where, every Canossian:
- Is Aware of Man’s interaction with the environment and how it can have both positive and negative impact
- Appreciates the importance and necessity of preserving the environment
- Applies different conservation methods (4Rs) to manage resources responsibly both in school and in the community.
Key Programmes:
We empower our students as advocators of sustaining Mother Earth. Student leaders such as Green Leaders and Green Ambassadors are provided training so that they can take the lead in the school’s movement for environmental sustainability.
Various exciting programmes are planned for the year where we honour what St Francis of Assisi has initiated. These programmes include:
- Assembly talks and recess activities on special environment commemorative days such as World Water Day and Earth Day to educate and empower Canossians in the area of environment.
- SLS packages for empowering each and every Canossian to lead their families in sustaining Mother Earth.
- Community outreach to our partners to include them in our journey.
